Chair caning repair and restoration, Boston.
S&C Caning in Brighton is the premier workshop in the Greater Boston/Eastern Massachusetts area for the recaning of hand-caned furniture. It was started by Sarah Correia in 1989. Sarah also redoes rush seats, but her specialty is double French cane or double blind cane which is most often found on French or American antiques. Items that S&C Caning has recaned include chairs, tables, settees, sofas, benches, and other heirloom pieces.
Sarah has done chair caning for Shreve, Crump & Low of Boston and Chestnut Hill as well as Room With A Vieux Antiques/Restorers without Borders of Brookline and Beacon Hill, along with work for other noted antique dealers and many private customers from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and beyond. The workshop is located in Brighton near the Brookline town line.
ALSO, should you not live in the Boston area but would like me to recane your seat, please email me with pictures and I’ll write you back right away with an estimate. At this point this applies to the 50% or so percentage of seats that can easily be detached from the chair they are part of which can then be shipped to me United States Post Office or United Parcel Service. After it is recaned I’ll email you an invoice and ship your seat back.

After all these decades my hand cane is exquisite but my hearing is not what it was in 1989. If possible, please email at my email address above and I will write you back. I am doing my best to hear perfectly on the phone but even with hearing aids I can hear far better in person than I can on the phone. Of course if email is not possible or inconvenient, please call or text. Thank you and sorry about that. Sarah.
Our Work

Hand-Caned Seat

Stendig dining chairs with hand-caned backs and seats. They also come without arms.
I’m not sure how many of this design I have woven new seats and backs for but I think it’s in the hundreds.
